A prominent actor has been charged with drunk driving and is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a whistleblower. The actor, who has not been named, was taken into custody and faces prosecution for operating a vehicle under the influence.
On July 4, Seoul’s Seongdong Police Station referred Mr. A to the prosecution on suspicion of DUI. According to reports, Mr. A consumed alcohol at a restaurant in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at approximately 3:40 AM on July 2.
After that, he got behind the wheel and drove approximately 3 kilometers to his residence in Seongdong-gu while intoxicated.
A preliminary breathalyzer test conducted at the scene revealed that Actor A’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) exceeded 0.08%, the legal threshold for license revocation.
He is facing additional assault charges following a confrontation with reporters who had been tailing him from a Gangnam-gu restaurant. The reporter alleged that they were physically harmed, including being strangled, while Mr. A denies causing any injury.
