aespa’s Karina is rewriting history books with her first solo release.

Ahead of their mini-album “Whiplash“, aespa members surprised fans with solo releases on October 9.

Karina’s “UP”, Winter’s “SPARK”, Giselle’s “Dopamine”, and Ningning’s “Bored!” have received enthusiastic responses from fans.

In particular, Karina’s song “UP” is swiftly climbing the domestic charts, and is expected to achieve the perfect all-kill.

“UP” topped Melon TOP 100 within 29 hours of its release. With this, Karina became one of the fastest K-pop soloists to achieve the #1 spot in the chart’s history.

In addition, the 24-year-old idol joined a small group of female soloists who topped Melon TOP 100 this year including IU, BIBI, Jennie, and Lee Young Ji.

With this remarkable achievement, Karina joined Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon as the only soloist from SM Entertainment to top Melon TOP 100.

Moreover, the song received 32,055 likes on Melon on the release day. “UP” is the third most-liked song by a girl group member of 2024 only following behind NewJeans’ “How Sweet” (37,628) and “Bubble Gum” (35,715).

As of 11PM KST on October 10, “UP” is charting #1 at Melon, #3 on Genie, #1 on Bugs, and #3 on Flo.

Following their successful solo releases, aespa will drop their mini-album “Whiplash” on Monday, October 21.
