Azealia Banks and BLACKPINK's Lisa

Azealia Banks is receiving massive backlash from K-pop fans once again for her controversial comments. The American rapper and songwriter has a history of making derogatory remarks about K-pop artists.

This time she is targeting BLACKPINK member and global star, Lisa. On March 1, she replied to a fan’s tweet asking her opinion on Lisa’s newly released album “Alter Ego”, she replied saying, “I don’t listen to K-pop”.

Azealia Banks took to X to express her frustration with fashion houses for not inviting enough Hip-Hop artists to their events. In doing so, she unnecessarily criticized K-pop idols and was accused of being racist towards the artists.

In one of her controversial tweets, she mentioned,

“How the fuck are all these garbage K-pop stars getting all this love from notoriously racist European fashion houses before the plethora of hip-hop artists, who have been showing love, driving their sales and immortalizing them in song for the last three decades?”

Banks replied to a chart and statistics account’s tweet about Nicki Minaj surpassing Doja Cat and Lisa to become the second most streamed rapper daily on Spotify. She expressed,

“Ppl really calling the k girl a rapper now. Lmfao damn EVERYBODY be trying to come for black americas nachos sheeesh.”

The BLINK fanbase is outraged over Azealia Banks’ repeated verbal attacks on Lisa. They condemned her comments as completely unacceptable. They are calling her “racist” and “xenophobic”.

Fans opine that Lisa is a highly accomplished and globally recognized artist who deserves respect, therefore, the “Chasing Time” rapper should apologize to her.

In November 2023 Azealia Banks ignited controversy with her Instagram stories, which appear to target K-pop idols, particularly BTS’ Jungkook.

While criticizing A$AP Rocky, Banks posted a story that included the following statement:

“Now that we are done pretending Chris Brown isn’t the most important artist of this decade… can we all pretty please tell these fruity K-pop weirdos to get out of here with their ghost white bleach booties and trash Michael Jackson choreo?”

Many fans took offense as the “trash Michael Jackson choreo” comment was directed at Jungkook, who released his solo album “GOLDEN” at the time. Many experts compared him to the pop legend Michael Jackson for his dance moves in the “Standing Next To You” music video.

The K-pop community is outraged over her repeated racist comments targeting K-pop idols and undermining their achievements.
