BABYMONSTER’s Ahyeon and Rora Dish on Competition with Rival Group ILLIT

BABYMONSTER and ILLIT

ILLIT made their debut a few days before BABYMONSTER’s official debut with their mini album, SUPER REAL ME, which became the top-selling debut album by a K-pop girl group.

This has sparked intense competition between the two groups, leading fans to frequently compare their musical abilities, album sales, and accomplishments.

On the release day of BABYMONS7ER, a round interview with BABYMONSTER members was held to celebrate the release of their debut mini album. One of the journalists asked BABYMONSTER about what they thought of their rival group ILLIT.

Ahyeon and Rora gave a positive response, receiving praise from fans of the groups.

Ahyeon, who joined BABYMONSTER for their debut, said, “I think it’s more important to develop ourselves than to compete with other groups.” She added, “We need to comfort each other and create a cool image.”

Regarding competition with ILLIT, Rora shared her thoughts, saying, “There is one person I am close to among the members of ILLIT. I’m rooting for them as a colleague. We will work with our own hip-hop vibe. Among the 5th generation idols, there are many prominent people, so we plan to work hard without giving in.”

Rora continues to say, “I will not be discouraged and will try to move forward believing in my members.”

The first albums and title songs of BABYMONSTER and ILLIT are doing well on the charts. Fans can’t wait to see the journey of these new girl groups and how they will influence the future of K-pop.
