After more than three years since their last group project, K-pop giants BLACKPINK have made a monumental return with their third EP, DEADLINE. Released on February 27 through YG Entertainment, the album ended a lengthy hiatus. The release has also rewritten the record books for girl groups worldwide.
According to Hanteo Chart, DEADLINE sold an impressive 1,461,785 copies on its first day. It is BLACKPINK’s highest first-day sales and surpasses Born Pink (1,011, 266). THE ALBUM, which dropped in 2020, recorded 589,310 on its first day, their third-highest 1st day sales.
DEADLINE now holds the title for the Highest 1st Day Sales by a Girl Group in Hanteo history. It surpassed aespa’s MY WORLD (1,372,929 copies) and NewJeans’ Get Up (1,194,623 copies).
Furthermore, it achieved the second-highest first-day sales of any K-pop release in 2026. It is only surpassed by ENHYPEN’s THE SIN : VANISH, which recorded 1.65 million copies.
DEADLINE marks BLACKPINK’s first group project since their 2022 studio album Born Pink, which topped both the US Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart. The EP consists of five tracks and explores genres of EDM, hip-hop, and pop.
The full tracklist includes the title track, GO, and the pre-release single, JUMP, dropped in July 2025. Other tracks included Me and my, Champion, and Fxxxboy.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is credited as a lyricist and composer on the lead track “Go.” It marks the first time all four members, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, have participated in writing lyrics for a single song. Rosé also contributed to the composition of “Go.” The title track features an industrial sound that morphs into a signature Coldplay-esque bridge. The album also sees production work from controversial hitmaker Dr. Luke on “Me and My” and “Champion.”
Aside from the pre-release single “Jump,” which blends Korean and English, the four new tracks are performed entirely in English.
The music video for “Go” has also become a talking point, amassing 1 million views within just 8 minutes of its release. At the time of writing, “Go” MV has already surpassed 24 million views. It debuted at #9 on the Global Spotify Daily Chart (4.678 streams).
The long-awaited album debuted at # on iTunes’ Top Albums chart in 32 regions. YG Entertainment reported that since promotions began on February 15, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel has gained an average of 10,000 new subscribers daily, and as a result, they became the first artist to surpass 100 million subscribers on YouTube.
Looking ahead, all BLACKPINK members have hinted at solo releases. Jisoo will likely make her solo comeback first, followed by the other members. The group recently wrapped their world tour, Deadline, in January and will hold encore concerts in the summer.
