BLACKPINK’s Lisa has been making global headlines this week with appearances at two major international events. At the same time, she prepares for a busy season of BLACKPINK activities with an ongoing tour and album release.
On September 17, the 28-year-old rapper made a surprise appearance at the opening ceremony of the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). Other stars to attend the opening ceremony included Kim Yoo Jung, Han So Hee, Son Ye Jin, Rowoon, Lee Soo Hyuk, Lee Byung Hun, and more.
Walking the red carpet in a floral-patterned Maison Margiela Haute Couture gown designed with a nude-illusion style, Lisa immediately captured attention. Her look was completed with Bulgari jewelry, of which she serves as an ambassador.
The festival opened with director Park Chan Wook’s black comedy No Other Choice, starring Lee Byung Hun and Son Ye Jin. The film is about a paper-industry veteran who’s suddenly laid off after 25 years. To support his wife and children and save their home, he sets out on a desperate quest for reemployment. Rejected by interviews and his former employer, he hatches a dark plan to eliminate job competition.
The 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in 2025 takes place from September 17 to 26 at the Busan Cinema Center, marking three decades as Asia’s premier film event. This year’s festival features 241 films from 64 countries, with India introducing more than ten films and five projects in the Asian Contents & Film Market.
Lisa’s presence at BIFF reflected her rising connection to the film world, especially coming so soon after another major moment earlier in the week.
Just two days before BIFF, Lisa had already made waves at the 2025 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. She appeared on the red carpet in a pink Lever Couture gown with a daring thigh-high slit, paired with a Bulgari Serpenti necklace. The color of her gown was a thoughtful choice, symbolizing the lotus flower, which represents a spiritual journey in Thai culture.
Later that evening, she changed into a white corset-style minidress by designer Dilara Findikoglu for the after-parties. Lisa was also acknowledged for her acting debut in the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus, where she played the role of Mook. Although she did not receive an individual nomination, the show itself was one of the night’s biggest contenders with 23 nominations, and her role marked an important first step into Hollywood.
Alongside her recent appearances, Lisa is preparing for a series of projects that will show even more sides of her artistry. She is currently the subject of a new documentary produced by Sony Music Vision and directed by award-winning filmmaker Sue Kim. The project will follow a year in her life as she balances group activities with her own creative journey.
Fans can expect the film to capture key moments such as the release of her debut solo album Alter Ego and her highly anticipated solo stage debut at Coachella. The documentary promises an inside look at her evolution as an artist outside of BLACKPINK.
In the meantime, Lisa remains fully involved in her group activities. BLACKPINK is scheduled to resume their Deadline World Tour on October 18, 2025, in Asia.
