Every time BLACKPINK’s Lisa performs at a music festival, she receives backlash from netizens and antis for lip-syncing and not being vocally good compared to other singers.
This time, her Coachella 2025 performance, while visually stunning, is also met with criticism for relying heavily on lip-syncing. The elaborate stage production and energetic choreography could not salvage the performance.
Lisa looked absolutely stunning, as always, with hair and makeup on point but fans were bummed about the lack of live singing. Critics pointed to the extensive use of AR (pre-recorded vocals), with Lisa only singing a few verses live. Plus, the excessively loud backtrack overpowered her live vocals.
She opened the 2025 Coachella set with “Thunder” and went on to perform “FXCK UP THE WORLD”, “LALISA”, “New Woman”, “Dream”, “Elastigirl”, “Lifestyle”, “Moonlit Floor”, and more. She wrapped her 55-minute performance with her pre-release song “Rockstar” from the full album “ALTER EGO”. Her mom, bandmate Rosé, and close friends Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Tyame Thapthimthong watched her perform at the world’s largest music festival.
This is not the first time she has received backlash for not singing live. Lisa was accused of lip-syncing at the Global Citizen Festival, MTV VMAs, and Oscars.
Fans felt let down by the lack of live singing in her groundbreaking Coachella 2025 performance as a K-pop soloist. Solo stans of BLACKPINK members, netizens, and critics left harsh comments such as

While netizens and antis criticized her performance, Lisa along with Lady Gaga created the most noise on social media platforms. They were the most mentioned singers on X on the opening day of Coachella weekend.
She performed at Sahara tent and drew a huge crowd of BLINKs and fans of “The White Lotus” also cheered on her. Another BLACKPINK member Jennie is set to perform on April 13 and April 20 on Coachella.
Meanwhile, Lisa will return to shake things up once again at Coachella Festival 2025 on April 18 (local time).
