BTS Jin’s 2nd Mini-Album “Echo” Records 700K+ Copies on First Day, Sweeps iTunes Charts

BTS Jin in a teaser for 2nd mini-album Echo [BIGHIT MUSIC]

Jin sings about his life experiences with his honey-coated high notes in the new album “Echo”. The BTS member dropped his sophomore mini-album and title track “Don’t Say You Love Me” on all major music platforms on Friday, May 16.

The album shattered multiple records right out of the gate. Besides sales, he turned iTunes into Jin-Tunes as most of the songs and albums reached #1 in various regions. It would not be wrong to say “Echo” achieved a clean sweep of iTunes worldwide.

Notably, “Echo” was released roughly 7 months after the release of his debut solo album “Happy” last November.

Jin’s 2nd Mini-Album “Echo” First Day Sales

According to Hanteo, Jin’s second EP “Echo” sold a staggering 727,711 copies on the first day, making it the highest first-day sales for a solo K-pop artist in 2025. He surpassed G-Dragon’s “Übermensch” (639,176) and Jennie’s “Ruby” (386,086) to achieve this feat.

Jin’s previous releases, “Happy” and the single “The Astronaut,” recorded 845,690 and 700,954 copies, respectively. With his latest release, Jin has claimed the No. 10 spot for highest first-day sales by a male solo artist in K-pop history. Interestingly, his previous album “Happy” sits two positions above at No. 7. The current record-holder remains BTS’ Jungkook, whose album “Golden” set the bar with an astonishing 2,147,389 copies sold on its first day.

Global iTunes Domination

“Echo” didn’t just conquer Korean charts, it topped iTunes in over 60 countries. The album secured the No. 2 spot on US iTunes while the title track “Don’t Say You Love Me” and B-sides ranked in the Top 25.

The album topped the iTunes Album Chart in 60 regions, including Australia, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Macau, France, Spain, UAE, Japan, Ireland, Guatemala, and more.

The title track “Don’t Say You Love Me” paints a painfully relatable picture – that moment when a relationship is ending, but love won’t let go. Jin’s achingly delicate vocals perfectly convey the love’s messy duality.

The music video starring Korean actress Shin Se Kyung has surpassed 3.5 million views within 13 hours of release.

Meanwhile, Jin will begin album promotions in the US, with his performance at “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” scheduled for May 21. Next month, he will resume group activities with BTS as members complete military service. Besides the BTS reunion, he will also embark on a tour “RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR” with the first concert in Goyang on June 28-29, 2025.
