BTS Makes History with 8 Consecutive Years of Daesang (Grand Prize) Wins at the MAMA Awards

BTS

This year, BTS, despite being on hiatus, has added another Daesang (Grand Prize) to their collection for 8th year running. On November 28, BTS set another record by becoming the first act to win 50 trophies at the MAMA Awards.

For those unversed, there are four Daesangs or Grand Prizes at the MAMA Awards 2023 including Worldwide Icon of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year. This year, BTS won Worldwide Icon of the Year

Since some of the members are serving in the military at the moment, the group was unable to attend the award ceremony.

Jungkook recorded his acceptance speech in a video and it was played at the event. The talented BTS vocalist expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support from ARMYs.

Back in 2016 at the MAMA awards, BTS won their first grand prize in the Singer of the Year category. The following year, they continued their winning streak by taking home Singer of the Year again.

In 2018, they achieved an amazing feat by winning not only Singer of the Year but also Album of the Year and Worldwide Icon of the Year all at once. This remarkable achievement has led BTS to win the Grand Prize for 8 consecutive years and the World Icon of the Year category for 6 consecutive years.
