BTS member SUGA has broken his silence and issued a heartfelt apology following a recent incident involving drunk driving.

On August 7, it was revealed the Daechwita rapper is under investigation by Seoul’s Yongsan Police for allegedly riding an electric kickboard while intoxicated. On August 6, he was found fallen in Yongsan-gu, and a police officer detected alcohol on him. SUGA is charged with violating the Road Traffic Act for drunk driving.

On August 7, he took to Weverse to share his heartfelt apology to fans, saying, “I come with a heavy and sorry heart to you guys [through Weverse] due to a disappointing event.

Last night, after drinking at dinner, I went home by riding an electric scooter. I violated the road traffic laws due to me thinking easily that it was a close distance and not recognizing that it is not allowed to ride an electric scooter after drinking.”

He further explained the incident, stating, “While parking my electric scooter at the front gate in front of my place, I fell by myself, and there was a police officer nearby and as a result of drinking, my license has been revoked and I have been fined. There was not anyone who got hurt or facilities that have been damaged but, this is an inexcusable responsibility of mine so I bow my head and apologize to everyone.”

He repeatedly apologized, “I apologize to those who have gotten hurt because of my carelessness and wrong action, and from now on and forward, I will be more and more careful with my actions so nothing like this will happen.”

On another note, SUGA has been serving in the military as a social service worker since September last year and is scheduled to be discharged in June next year.
