BTS’ SUGA Questioned by Police for 3 Hours Over Drunk Driving Incident [VIDEO]

BTS SUGA leaving Yongsan Police Station

BTS member SUGA (Min Yoongi, 31) was summoned for the first round of questioning at Yongsan Police Station on August 23, 17 days after being caught driving under the influence.

Earlier in the day, he attended work at his public service office as usual before heading to the police station for the investigation.

His first police questioning session at Yongsan Police Station lasted approximately 3 hours. He exited the station at 10:53 PM KST, where he was met by members of the press.

Upon his arrival, SUGA expressed his sincerest apologies and regret, stating, “I am deeply sorry for my actions, which have caused hurt and disappointment. I truly reflect and regret it. I will make sure something like this never happens again.”

SUGA, who was charged with drunk driving 17 days ago, arrived after completing his public service work and apologized for disappointing his fans and the public. However, he declined to answer specific questions about the incident, such as whether he had only one beer and if he knew he shouldn’t ride an electric scooter after drinking.

The BTS rapper is accused of driving an electric scooter with a blood alcohol level of 0.227% on the night of the 6th, which is three times the legal limit. Under the Road Traffic Act, drunk driving on a motorized bicycle carries the same penalties as driving a car, with a maximum sentence of up to 5 years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won if the blood alcohol level is 0.2% or higher.

Police will determine the right penalty after the investigation, and considering various factors like distance traveled, specifications of the scooter, and more.
