The Massive Success of “Perfect Crown”
You can’t talk about Byeon Woo Seok right now without talking about Perfect Crown. Premiering on April 10, 2026, the MBC and Disney+ collaboration paired him with none other than IU. He plays Grand Prince I-An in a modern constitutional monarchy setting, and the show quickly became a global juggernaut.
The story centers on two people who are stuck in their own ways. Seong Hui Ju, IU’s character, is rich, smart, and runs a beauty company, but because she is a “commoner” and illegitimate, the old-money elite still look down on her. Then there’s Grand Prince I-an, played by Byeon Woo Seok. Everyone loves him, but he’s basically a figurehead with no real power and a lot of pressure to marry and stay out of politics.
They strike a deal: a marriage of convenience. She gets the royal status she can’t buy, and he avoids a marriage that would trap him completely.
“Solo Leveling” Live Action
If Perfect Crown was his royal debut, the upcoming Netflix Solo Leveling live-action series is his action-hero trial.
Netflix confirmed the live-action adaptation, and they handed Byeon Woo Seok the lead role of Sung Jin Woo. If you know the webtoon, you know Jin Woo goes from the “Weakest Hunter of All Mankind” to an absolute powerhouse. He will be starring alongside Han So Hee, who is confirmed to play Cha Hae In.
Filming officially kicked off in May 2026, and the series is slated for a tight seven-episode run.
