Chae Jong Hyeop to Reportedly Lead New Romance Drama ‘Shining’

Chae Jong Hyeop

After swooning fans with his latest drama Serendipity’s Embrace, Chae Jong Hyeop is already considering his next work.

A source revealed to Sports Chosun on September 23 that Chae Jong Hyeop will star in the upcoming drama Shining.

It is a heartwarming love story exploring how relationships can become a guiding light, shaping one’s perspective and fueling hope in the present.

Chae Jong Hyeop takes on the role of Yeon Tae Oh, a train driver haunted by a tragic past. At 19, he lost his parents in a devastating accident that also injured his younger brother, Tae Seo.

The trauma leaves Tae Oh grappling with loneliness, longing, and pain. His life intersects with Mo Eun Ah, whom he first meets at 19, briefly parts with at 20, and unexpectedly reunites with his lost love at 30.

In 2024 so far, he has appeared in tvN’s Serendipity’s Embrace and Japanese drama Eye Love You. Last year, he impressed viewers with his appearance in tvN’s Castaway Diva and See You in My 19th Life.

Shining is penned by Lee Sook Yun (On the Way to the Airport, A Piece of Your Mind) and directed by Kim Yoon Jin (Our Beloved Summer, Tell Me That You Love Me).

Filming will start once the entire cast is confirmed.
