The MBC drama “Motel California” has undergone an unexpected production shake-up with director Jang Joon Ho’s departure. The drama director has stepped down from his role in the midst of filming.

According to an exclusive report by JTBC Entertainment on October 24, Director Jang Joon Ho has resigned as the main director of ‘Motel California’. Director Kim Hyung Min will now take over as lead director.

Following reports of Director Jang Joon Ho’s exit, a representative from “Motel California” production team revealed that his departure was due to personal health reasons.

The production team stated that the change in director will not significantly impact the drama’s progress, as a substantial portion of filming has already been completed.

Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s bestselling novel “Home, Bitter Home”, “Motel California” is a heartwarming romance that explores the twists and turns of first love. The drama tells the story of a woman who returns to her hometown after 12 years, only to reconnect with her past and rekindle a love that never faded.

This is Na In Woo’s final project before military enlistment. After completing filming for “Motel California,” he is expected to enlist by the end of 2024. Previously, he departed from the variety show “2 Days & 1 Night” to focus on acting commitments.

“Motel California” is scheduled to broadcast next year on MBC.
