Singer-songwriter EJAE, who recently stole hearts as the voice of Rumi in Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, has made headlines for her heartfelt praise of BTS’s Jungkook.
In a new interview aired on JTBC’s ‘Newsroom’ on October 19, 2025, the 33-year-old singer spoke candidly about the artists she dreams of working with, and without hesitation, she named Jungkook. Her warm, genuine remarks quickly went viral, and fans shared clips and cheered for a possible collaboration between the two.
When asked which artist she would most like to produce or write for, EJAE said,
There are so many. But in K-pop, it is BTS, especially Jungkook. He sings so well. I would love to write a good melody for him.
The interviewer then teased the idea of a future collaboration, and she couldn’t hide her excitement.
Ah, that would be a huge honor.
Smiling shyly, she was asked to send a short message to the “Never Let Go’ singer through the camera. Laughing, she said,
Jungkook, please do a collab with me. Thank you. Oh, God!
When the interviewer said it might happen soon, EJAE added sincerely,
That would be such an honor. He is such an amazing singer. Of course, being able to sing well is important, but what matters most is how you deliver the lyrics when you sing. He is so good at that. The way he internalizes and expresses the melody with his voice, it is just incredible.
After the interview, many flooded social media with support for the idea of a future EJAE x Jungkook collaboration.
After the overwhelming success of KPop Demon Hunters and OST Golden, EJAE returned to Korea and held a press conference in Seoul on October 15. She reflected on her career journey, from her early trainee days at SM Entertainment to finding her voice as a global artist and hitmaker.
“It feels like a dream,” she said, describing how grateful she feels to be recognized for her work.
Her recent achievements speak for themselves. EJAE wrote and performed “Golden,” the breakout song from KPop Demon Hunters, which has become a global sensation. The track spent eight non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped charts in more than 25 countries. This marks the first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by a female-led K-pop group.
Critics praised “Golden” as “an infectious electropop track” and “a beautifully crafted inspirational pop anthem.”
Interestingly, both EJAE and Jungkook share a special connection through Golden. EJAE’s Golden became a cultural phenomenon through the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack. On the other hand, Jungkook’s debut solo album, also titled Golden, was one of the biggest albums of 2023. His record debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, included hits like “Seven,” “3D,” and “Standing Next to You,” and was later recognized by the IFPI as one of the world’s best-selling albums that year.
While any actual collaboration may still be a ways off, the timing might soon be right. Jungkook completed his mandatory military service on June 11 and now has resumed activities. All seven BTS members are now discharged, the group is preparing for a long-awaited comeback and a 2026 world tour. More recently, BTS leader RM hinted at a March 2026 comeback during the controversial Love Your W event.
