Hanbin from TEMPEST

Hanbin is undoubtedly one of the most beloved members of the rising K-pop group TEMPEST!

Born Ngô Ngọc Hưng on January 19, 1998, he is quickly becoming a fan favorite thanks to his bright smile, captivating stage presence, and inspiring story.

If you are a newbie iE (TEMPEST fandom), there is a lot for you to catch up on. Let’s delve deep and look back at his journey so far.

Hanbin’s Journey Did Not Begin with TEMPEST

Hanbin was already popular before debuting with TEMPEST.

Hailing from Yên Bái City, Vietnam, he moved to Hanoi and self-learned dancing at the young age of 15. There, he founded and led the Vietnam dance crew CAC in 2016, under the stage name Hưng Bin.

The dance crew performed countless K-pop dance covers and won multiple competitions before eventually disbanding in 2019.

After passing the 2019 BELIFT Global Audition in Vietnam, he moved to Korea to pursue his dream of becoming a K-pop idol.

He Almost Debuted with ENHYPEN

Had Hanbin made it to the finale of I-Land, he would have debuted as an ENHYPEN member.

After signing a trainee contract with BELIFT LAB in 2019, he trained for 11 months and participated in a survival reality show, I-Land, which formed ENHYPEN.

He was cut from the competition in the second-to-last episode on September 13, 2020, narrowly missing a spot in ENHYPEN, the group formed through the show.

Debut with TEMPEST

After failing to secure a spot in ENHYPEN, Hanbin moved to Yue Hua Entertainment and began preparation for his debut with TEMPEST. The group was slated for debut in the 2nd half of 2021, however, it was postponed to early 2022 after all members tested positive with COVID-19.

Hanbin officially debuted as a TEMPEST member on March 2, 2022, with the EP “It’s Me, It’s We.” Since then, he has shown his vocal prowess in all comebacks with the group.

Fun Facts About TEMPEST’s Hanbin

On another note, TEMPEST reorganized into a six-member group in August after the withdrawal of Hawrang. The group is set to release their first mini-album “Bubble Gum” on December 6.
