Former EXO member Tao aka Huang Zitao has confirmed his romance with ex-SM Entertainment trainee, Xu Yiyang.
They first met in 2014 when Xu was a trainee at SM Entertainment and Tao was already an active member of EXO. After he left EXO and Xu completed her training, they reunited and started a life together in China, where they both built successful careers.
In 2015, he parted ways with EXO and filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment. After moving to China, he established his own agency, L.ATO Ent, and Yi Yang joined his label.
In his variety show, the couple appeared and discussed how they fell in love and the heartwarming reason he decided to make his relationship public.
Huang Zitao revealed that Xu Xi Yang supported her during difficult times, stating, “My father had cancer and Yiyang was always by my side. I cried every day, she was all around me. She was with me for a long time, in my hardest times, she never left me.”
When asked why he decided to publicly announce his relationship, Tao shared a heartwarming reason, “Why do I always tell my fans? I don’t want them to waste all the time waiting for me at the airport, wasting time staring at the screen every day. I hope those who like me can be happy. I hope they have a future and wonderful family.”
On July 14, the couple officially announced their relationship on Douyin, a Chinese social media platform. In a creative reveal, they shared videos where they initially showed a photo of each other on their phone, then surprised fans by appearing together in person, emerging from behind the screen.
