EXO’s Chanyeol Solo Debut Album Sold ‘Black Out’ 180K+ Copies on First Day, Tops 51 iTunes in 51 Regions

Chanyeol, a member of the K-pop group EXO, has achieved huge success with his solo debut album Black Out.

12 years after his debut with EXO, Chanyeol has finally made his solo debut with his first mini-album Black Out, released on August 28.

His solo debut mini-album Black Out got off to a flying start, selling 181,434 copies on its release day and a further 22,847 copies on day two, totaling 204,281 copies sold in just two days.

Chanyeol’s debut mini-album also topped the iTunes ‘Top Albums’ charts in 51 countries, including France, Spain, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Greece.

 Additionally, it dominated China’s largest music platform, QQ Music, reaching number one on the digital album sales chart within just 5 minutes of its release. The album also earned the prestigious ‘Double Gold’ certification on the first day of release. 

Double Gold is awarded for sales of over 500,000 yuan (approximately 93.73 million won).

The debut album contains 6 amazing tracks including Ease Up, Black Out, Hasta La Vista, Back Again, Clover, I’m on your side too.

Black Out is a fast-paced pop-rock song with a minimalist acoustic guitar and a prominent synthesizer melody. In this song, Chanyeol compares the emotional darkness after a breakup to a ‘black out’, where time feels distorted and unclear.

Chanyeol will perform Black Out on various music programs, including M Countdown, Music Bank, and Inkigayo.
