Kai will resume his entertainment activities after his military discharge next month.
The EXO member is wasting no time and gearing up for a solo comeback soon. However, his comeback was not unexpected, as SM Entertainment’s comeback lineup for the second quarter of the year already included him.
Kai is gearing up for a comeback, with plans to release his fourth mini-album in April, according to an exclusive report by Star News on March 5. The 31-year-old K-pop star is busy preparing for the upcoming release, and filming for the music video of his new song is scheduled to take place as early as next week.
In response, SM Entertainment confirmed the rumors
“Kai is preparing a new mini-album with the goal of making a comeback in April. Next week, he will be filming a new music video. Please look forward to it.”

He is back to music after completing his alternative military service. Kai started serving as a social service worker in May 2023 and was discharged last month on February 10.
Kai could not make a comeback for two years due to mandatory military duties. His last release was the successful third mini-album “Rover”, released in March 2023. The album topped the iTunes Album chart in 40 countries worldwide and dominated domestic and Chinese music charts.
Moreover, the title song “Rover” debuted at #12 on Billboard World Digital Song Sales and #15 on Hot Trending Charts.
Kai debuted as a member of EXO in 2012, and later made his solo debut eight years later in 2020 with his self-titled album.
Meanwhile, he is set to kick off his post-discharge schedule with the YouTube web variety show “Changing Majors” Season 6. Following Lee Chang Sub, Kai will star as the second “Changing Majors” when the new season premieres on March 20, ahead of his April comeback.
