The long-awaited second season of Extraordinary Attorney Woo is finally moving forward.
On January 29, industry sources confirmed that writer Moon Ji Won is currently working on the script for Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2. A source familiar with the production said that preparations are progressing normally and that the writing process is actively underway. While filming has not started yet, things are now moving again after a long pause.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo aired on June 29, 2022, and ran for 16 episodes. Thanks to its unique story, it quickly became a major hit. The drama follows Woo Young Woo, a rookie lawyer with autism spectrum disorder and a brilliant mind, as she navigates life and work at a large law firm.
Park Eun Bin’s performance received praise, and the series stood out for its respectful portrayal of autism. The final episode recorded a 17.5 percent viewership rating, the highest in ENA’s history. The drama was also a global success on Netflix and won several major awards, including a Baeksang Arts Award Grand Prize for Park Eun Bin.
Because of its popularity, calls for a second season began almost immediately after the drama ended. The production company, AStory, initially aimed to release Season 2 in 2024 and signed a contract with writer Moon in 2023. However, the script development took longer than expected, which led to delays in casting and scheduling.
Last year, Park Eun Bin said in an interview that she had not yet been contacted about Season 2, showing how early the project still was at the time.
Now that scriptwriting is underway, attention is turning to the next steps. Casting has not officially begun, but filming can start once the scripts and pre-production work are completed. The production team is also focused on bringing back as much of the original team as possible.
This includes the main cast, the director Yoo In Shik, and key staff members, to preserve the tone and chemistry that made Season 1 successful.
AStory is currently pursuing remakes of Season 1 in the United States, Japan, and Europe, and plans to manage everything directly. They will oversee pre-production, adaptation, and broadcasting. According to the company, this global expansion could positively influence the pace and scale of Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2’s production.
Meanwhile, the main cast members have remained busy. Park Eun Bin recently starred in the Disney+ medical thriller Hyper Knife, which became the platform’s biggest Korean series launch in 2025. She is also set to appear in the Netflix superhero series The Wonderfools, directed by Yoo In Shik, scheduled for release in 2026.
Kang Tae Oh, who played Lee Jun Ho, completed his military service in 2024 and has since returned to acting. His recent projects were the rom-com The Potato Lab, with Lee Sun Bin, and Moon River with Kim Sejeong. Kang Ki Young and other supporting cast members have continued working in dramas and variety shows.
Although an exact Extraordinary Attorney Woo 2 release date has not been announced, industry watchers believe a late 2027 premiere is most realistic based on the current timeline.
