Fans Uncover Dahn World Cult References in NewJeans ‘OMG’ and ILLIT’s ‘Magnetic’ Music Videos

NewJeans and ILLIT

Recently, concerns have been raised about the alleged connections between HYBE, a Korean entertainment company, and Dahn World, a Korean cult. Fans have pointed out eerie similarities between K-Pop music videos and Dahn World’s symbolism, sparking a heated debate.

After decoding videos, fans have noticed that K-pop groups under HYBE are subtly promoting Dahn World cult messaging. Here are some evidence that hints at HYBE’s connection with the cult

GFRIEND’s Disbandment and LE SSERAFIM’s Debut

GFriend’s last song MAGO and album Walpurgis Night contain lyrics related to Dahn World’s prayer book. It is believed that within this cult, they allegedly worship MAGO, a goddess in Korean creation myths.

The group disbanded on May 1 (Walpurgis Night), a day associated with warding off evil spirits, and LE SSERAFIM debuted on May 2.

People online noticed that LE SSERAFIM debuted one day after GFRIEND disbanded. GFRIEND had a concept centered around modern witches, while LE SSERAFIM debuted with an angel concept. This led people to wonder if it hints at getting rid of the ‘witches’ and replacing them with ‘angels’.

NewJeans’ OMG MV

Initially, NewJeans’ song OMG was interpreted as a catchy song about having a crush on someone. However, after the controversy surrounding HYBE’s alleged ties to the Dahn World cult emerged, listeners have started to reevaluate the song’s meaning.

Some now believe OMG is about seeking spiritual guidance, and the emphasis on specific pronunciations eerily resembles the name ‘Dahn World’.

Particularly, Hanni’s Korean pronunciation of “You” in the MV is uniquely similar to “Dahn” and “Shin” (God).

During the press conference, Min Hee Jin revealed facing threats regarding the OMG music video. She was threatened by HYBE to snatch NewJeans’ Apple event, however, they eventually attended due to a personal invitation by the CEO.

Fans also speculate that the lyrics of ETA contain subtle jabs at HYBE’s CEO Park Ji Won and the company. The mention of not showing up to the birthday party is believed to refer to Bang Si Hyuk skipping NewJeans’ celebratory debut event.

ILLIT’s ‘Magnetic’ MV

Lee Ilchi, the founder of Dahn World, authored a book named Magnetic Meditation. The music video for ILLIT’s song Magnetic appears to draw similarities from Dahn World’s prayer book and the song’s choreography resembling finger exercises.

Lastly, HYBE’s fan interaction app “Weverse” shares a similar name with Dahn World’s corporation “Weverse Mind”.

Comments on the music video are being deleted in real time, and no articles have been published due to alleged political connections. It is reported that many Korean politicians and bigwigs are part of the cult.

Fans are demanding answers about HYBE’s ties to Dahn World and the symbolism in K-pop music videos.
