G-Dragon to Release First Studio Album “Übermensch” in 11 Years This Month

G-Dragon releases teaser for full album Übermensch

After an 11-year wait, G-Dragon is dropping his third full-length album, “Übermensch”, this month.

The K-pop icon posted a teaser video on social media to announce his long-awaited studio album on February 4.

G-Dragon will release his first full-length album titled “Übermensch” on all music platforms on February 25.

The teaser video for the upcoming album “Übermensch” opens with the singer’s silhouette walking towards each other through a kaleidoscope of dreamy, colorful lights. As the two silhouettes merge, they transform into the distinctive Ü logo, hinting at the album’s themes and concepts.

Previously, the album title was also displayed at the start of his single “POWER”, released last October. However, nobody could guess that it was the name of the album.

The album “Übermensch” marks G-Dragon’s third full-length album, arriving 11 years and 5 months after his last solo album “COUP D’ETAT” in 2013. His first studio album “Heartbreaker” was dropped in 2009.

“Übermensch” is a German term that translates to “Beyond-Man” or “Superman” in English. It was originally coined by philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche to describe a being who has transcended conventional human limitations and achieved a higher state of existence.

In the context of G-Dragon’s album title, “Übermensch” suggests that he is aiming to surpass his own previous boundaries and emerge as a stronger, wiser, and more refined artist.

The pre-release singles “POWER” and “HOME SWEET HOME” (ft. Taeyang and Daesung), dropped in October and November 2024, will be part of the upcoming album.

Previously, the 36-year-old K-pop star ended his solo hiatus of 7 years with the release of “POWER” in October last year. Since then, he has performed his latest hits on MAMA Awards, SBS Gayo Daejeon, and a charity gala in France.

On another note, his musical reality show “Good Day” will premiere on February 16 on MBC and Disney+ with a star-studded guest lineup. In addition, he is planning a concert in March, which was confirmed by his bandmate Taeyang.

Mark your calendar for February 25 when G-Dragon will release “Übermensch” on all music platforms.
