Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung and Gong Myung In Talks to Lead New Romance Drama

Sooyoung and Gong Myung may soon bring their chemistry to the small screen! 

As per an insider on August 20, the Girls’ Generation member and actor are in talks to star as lead couple in a new romance drama, A Very Sensible Alcoholic (literal trans).

A Very Sensible Alcoholic tells the story of a woman who grows up in a family of alcoholics and her journey to break free from the cycle of drunkenness.

The script is penned by Myung Soo Hyun, who is known for popular works including Drinking Solo, A Poem A Day, and Ugly Young-A.

Choi Sooyoung stars as Han Geum Ju, a skilled female mechanic who lands a job at a large company. However, her love for cars is matched only by her love for alcohol, earning her the nickname ‘alcoholic’. When she’s labeled an ‘alcoholic’, she decides to quit and embark on a journey of sobriety. 

Meanwhile, Gong Myung plays Seo Eui Jun, a talented doctor who leaves his prestigious job in Seoul to work at a rural health center. With his strong belief that alcohol only masks pain and can ruin lives, he crosses paths with Geum Ju.

The new drama A Very Sensible Alcoholic is now in the process of finalizing its cast and will start filming soon. The script is being written by Myung Soo Hyun and Jeon Ji Hyun, with director Jang Yoo Jung at the helm. 

The show is currently in talks to air on tvN, with details to be announced soon.
