Go Min Si has withdrawn from the drama Grand Galaxy Hotel, penned by popular screenwriters Hong sister, amid a bullying controversy. In her place, rising actress Shin Si Ah will take on the role alongside confirmed lead Lee Do Hyun.
Lee Do Hyun is set to make his post-military acting comeback with Grand Galaxy Hotel, his agency Yuehua Entertainment confirmed today. Despite receiving floods of acting offers, Lee chose to reunite with the Hong Sisters after working with them on the 2019 hit drama Hotel del Luna. Go Min Si was previously in discussions to take on the female lead role.
Go Min Si’s Departure From ‘Grand Galaxy Hotel’
On Thursday, June 26, regarding her appearance in the Grand Galaxy Hotel, her agency, Mystic Story, confirmed to Korean media outlet TenAsia,
It is true that Go Min Si has decided not to appear. Rather than pushing ahead with filming while the school violence issue has not been completely resolved, we decided that it was right to address this issue first, and we decided to withdraw after amicable discussions with the production team.
Last month, the Tastefully Yours actress was accused by someone claiming to be a former classmate of bullying behavior in school. Allegations included verbal abuse, stealing money and belongings, and mocking students with disabilities. Her agency, Mystic Story, quickly responded, firmly denying the claims and calling them “groundless.”
At the time, the production company also expressed trust in the actress and revealed that there are no changes to the casting for the time being. However, with the controversy lingering, the decision was made to recast the role.
Shin Si Ah Cast as Female Lead
Stepping into the role is rising actress Shin Si Ah, who first made headlines after landing the lead in The Witch: Part 2. The Other One in 2022, beating out 1,408 competitors. She quickly rose to fame and most recently starred in the medical drama Resident Playbook. Shin Si Ah has partnered with a new agency, Management SOOP, following the expiration of her contract with ANDMARQ.
Lee Do Hyun’s Return
Following his discharge from the Air Force last month, Lee Do Hyun has officially signed on as the male lead in Grand Galaxy Hotel. Initial reactions to his reunion with Go Min Si, after working together in Youth of May and Sweet Home, were mixed. While some fans were excited and others were hoping for a fresh pairing. Now, with Shin Si Ah on board, anticipation is building for a new on-screen couple.
About ‘Grand Galaxy Hotel’
Grand Galaxy Hotel, the latest project from hit writers the Hong Sisters (Alchemy of Souls, My Girlfriend is Gumiho, Can This Love Be Translated?), is expected to begin filming in the second half of this year. As per reports, the fantasy romance drama will borrow thematic elements from the writing duo’s previous supernatural hit Hotel del Luna, but with a focus on a male protagonist.
