Go Min Si Announces New Film After School Bullying Controversy

Go Min Si is making her comeback with the film “Moral Family”, her agency Mystic Story confirmed on Tuesday, January 13. Filming for the project is scheduled to begin in March. This is her first major professional announcement since addressing serious school bullying allegations last year.

“Moral Family” is a black comedy about a dysfunctional family living a twisted life. The story follows a barmaid who cares for her siblings, including an alcoholic older brother, a younger sister who creates adult content online, and a gay younger brother.

The film is adapted from a play of the same name that first premiered in 2014 and returned to the stage in late 2023. The original production was led by the Nabe Theater Company, founded by actress Kim Sun Young.

Go Min Si, born February 15, 1995, is a popular South Korean actress, best known for her performances in “Sweet Home” and “Youth of May,” as well as the film “Smugglers,” which earned her the Best New Actress award at the 2023 Blue Dragon Film Awards.

Her casting in “Moral Family” is seen as an important next step in her career, following a period of public scrutiny.

In May 2025, online allegations from people claiming to be Go Min Si’s former classmates accused her of violence, extortion, and bullying during her school years. At the time, her agency denied the claims, calling them “clearly false,” and began legal action. The 30-year-old actress also addressed the situation publicly in August last year through a detailed Instagram statement.

She acknowledged having been a mischievous and imperfect teenager, but firmly and unequivocally denies ever committing school violence. She confirmed that an official investigation was underway and that she had submitted evidence to the authorities. By October 2025, she returned quietly to social media with a simple post.

“Moral Family” is an important announcement for Go Min Si as it represents her next artistic project after “Smugglers.” It is important to note that “Moral Family” is a separate project from the 2024 Korean film “A Normal Family”, which starred Sol Kyung Gu and Jang Dong Gun and explored moral dilemmas within a family after a crime.

With filming set to begin in March, Go Min Si’s ‘Moral Family’ may hit theaters in early 2027.
