Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular Korean webtoon Solo Leveling is generating significant buzz since the confirmed casting of Byeon Woo Seok as the lead character, Sung Jin Woo. Now, the excitement has doubled with reports that Han So Hee is joining the Solo Leveling live-action series.
Byeon, known widely for his roles in 20th Century Girl and Lovely Runners, officially joined the project in July 2025. He will portray the protagonist Sung Jin Woo, a “Class E Hunter” initially considered the weakest of all hunters tasked with protecting humanity from monsters that emerge through mysterious gates.
The story follows Jin Woo’s life-threatening challenges, which ultimately allow him to level up and evolve into the strongest hunter, capable of saving the world. Fans are eager to watch his journey from the weakest hunter to a world-saving hero.
An exclusive report from Sports Kyunghyang on August 29 suggests that Han So Hee may join the cast as Cha Hae In, an S-rank hunter known for her strength and skill in the webtoon.
Although the report has stirred fan interest, Netflix and the production team have not officially confirmed her involvement. Han So Hee is recognized for her previous action-oriented roles in My Name and Gyeongseong Creature. If she joins, she would bring depth to the live-action adaptation as Cha Hae-in, one of the most popular characters from the original series.
The adaptation is directed by Lee Hae Jun (Golden Slumber, A Hard Day) and Kim Byung Seo, who are credited with the disaster film Ashfall. With their experience, the adaptation is expected to capture the webtoon’s intense action sequences and immersive world in a cinematic way.
Both actors have notable upcoming projects as well. Han So Hee is set to star in the Korean remake of The Intern and the crime noir thriller Project Y alongside Jeon Jong Seo. Byeon Woo Seok, on the other hand, will appear in the royal romantic series Wife of a 21st Century Prince with IU.
With Byeon Woo Seok confirmed and Han So Hee potentially joining, Solo Leveling is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most anticipated K-dramas of 2026. Fans are looking forward to high-quality action, strong performances, and a faithful adaptation of the beloved webtoon.
