TXT’s Huening Kai Says “I Wanted to Be Honest” as He Apologizes to Fans After Viral Clip

TXT’s Huening Kai has publicly addressed the recent controversy surrounding a viral video that allegedly showed him leaving a bar with a woman. The 23-year-old idol took to Weverse on October 10, 2025, to clarify the situation and apologize to fans, emphasizing that there was “nothing to worry about.”

The incident began when a sasaeng — an obsessive fan known for invading idols’ privacy — recorded a video outside a popular Seoul establishment, Orange Bar, and claimed it showed Huening Kai in an intimate moment with a woman. The video quickly spread online, prompting dating rumors and speculation among fans and netizens.

While some online users tried to dissect the clip, pointing to matching phone cases and sneakers as “evidence,” many fans quickly came to Huening Kai’s defense.

MOAs (TXT’s fandom) largely condemned the invasive act of secret filming, calling for better respect toward idols’ privacy. Others praised his behavior as considerate, noting that he appeared to be ensuring the woman’s safety. Some even theorized that the woman could have been his older sister, Lea.

Huening Kai later shared a detailed and emotional message on Weverse, offering his honest explanation and apology to fans.

I am so sorry to MOA and I don’t know why I have to avoid it so I’m just going to say it. I was with an acquaintance and it was a situation where I could not just leave them so I took them home and then returned to the dorm right after. Because it was the holiday (Chuseok), we went to the only place that was still open.

Ever since debut, since I di not want to cause any harm to the members and since I am a total homebody, I never went out, but this time I was seeing my acquaintance for the first time in so long and being put in that situation made me keep wondering what to do…but still I couldn’t just leave them behind so I quickly took them home and went back to the dorm. That was the situation and I am sorry I made you all worried and concerned.

I’m the type that hates lying and I wanted to be honest. It seemed like I caused a situation that created a lot of misunderstandings but there’s nothing to worry about, MOAS.

I’ll focus more on work and focus more on MOA so that I can work hard to not make MOAS worried again. I’m so sorry for hurting MOAS, my members, and the company employees, I don’t know how my words will be taken but if they didn’t come across properly then I’m so sorry. I wanted to be a reliable person but it feels like I haven’t been that reliable so I’m sorry.

My members, MOA, and family come first.

I don’t care what happens to me but I’m sorry for giving MOAS such a hard time, I’m really so sorry.

If my words are lacking in any way, let me know everything so I can fix them since there’s so many things I need to work on anyways…

There might be a lot of things I need to work on.

Sorry for sending such a long message so late. Rest well.

His apology highlighted the intense scrutiny K-pop idols face, even in their personal lives. The situation also reignited discussions about idol privacy and fan boundaries, as well as the pressures to maintain a flawless public image.

Despite the controversy, many MOAs expressed continued support for Huening Kai, praising his honesty and saying he did not have to apologize.

Meanwhile, TXT recently signed a partnership with UNICEF to support mental health initiatives. The five-member group will continue their world tour “ACT : TOMORROW” next month with concerts in Saitama (November 16), Aichi (December 6-7), and Fukuoka (December 27-28).
