Hwang Jung Eum is facing a defamation lawsuit for falsely accusing a woman of having an affair with her husband.
On June 22, the police revealed that a defamation complaint was filed against the Secret Love actress at the Nowon Police Station in Seoul on June 19.
Last April, she accused her husband, Lee Young Don, of having an affair with a woman, in a post on her social media account.
The woman was subjected to a flood of abusive comments, but Hwang Jung Eum later admitted her mistake and issued an apology.
She apologized for mistakenly identifying an innocent woman as the person her husband was having an affair with, sharing the woman’s posts on her account, and using offensive language.
The 39-year-old actress admitted that the woman in question has no connection to the incident, has never met her husband, and is not involved in any infidelity.
Despite her apology, the woman got a lot of hate due to her careless actions.
In February 2024, she filed for divorce for the second time from her husband, professional golfer-turned-businessman Lee Young Don.
Hwang Jung Eum married Lee Young Don in 2016 and they had their first child, a son, in 2017. However, in September 2020, she filed for divorce, but the couple later reconciled and decided not to proceed with the divorce. They then had their second son in 2022.
Now, in 2024, she filed for divorce again and publicly accused her husband of cheating.
