Hyunjin of Stray Kids Drops New Solo Song ‘Contradicting’

Hyunjin contradicting

Stray Kids’ Hyunjin released his solo single Contradicting as part of the group’s SKZ-RECORD series on their official YouTube channel. The song blends R&B and rap elements and was written entirely by Hyunjin, with composition support from Bang Chan.

Released on August 19, it explores the feelings of conflict and confusion in love. Lyrics like “Why is love so contradicting / I can’t stop it / so addicting” reflect# the emotional core of the track.

Contradicting was first performed as an unreleased song on February 26, 2023, during the Osaka leg of Stray Kids’ world tour MANIAC. Fans were introduced to the track live, and the official release several months later allowed listeners to experience it in full audio format.

While there is currently no music video, Hyunjin shared the song’s cover artwork on Instagram.

The lyrics focus on emotional struggle, self-reflection, and the complexity of love. The song has been met with positive responses from both fans and critics, noting its catchy melody and sincere lyrics.

More recently, Seungmin also dropped a solo track, Hold On. SKZ-RECORD is a web-based project where Stray Kids members release solo tracks, demos, or self-composed songs outside of official albums.

Earlier this month, Hyunjin and multiple Stray Kids members opened Instagram accounts as part of STAYweek 2023 celebrations. Last month, he became the first Korean ambassador of Versace after attending the La Vacanza show in May.

Meanwhile, Stray Kids concluded their world tour, MANIAC, earlier this year, and now embark on a 5-STAR Dome tour in Japan and Korea. They are scheduled to perform in Nagoya and Osaka, followed by two shows in Seoul this October. They will wrap their all-dome tour in the Tokyo Dome on October 28-29.
