“I don’t want to ‘win’ over anything anymore:” G-Dragon Shares His Personal Struggles on “You Quiz on the Block”

G-Dragon on You Quiz on the Block

In a rare and intimate conversation, K-pop icon G-Dragon laid bare his soul on ‘You Quiz on the Block.’

On October 30, the BIGBANG leader candidly confessed his feelings and personal struggles while talking to hosts Jo Se Ho and Yoo Jae Suk.

He also previewed his upcoming single “POWER,” which is scheduled to be released on October 31 at 6 PM KST. Additionally, he donated his 1 million won prize money to the “Drug Eradication Foundation,” a cause close to his heart.

G-Dragon, faced drug charges in October last year. Following a thorough investigation authorities found no evidence to support the allegations. With all tests returning negative results, the police officially closed the case in December, clearing him of any wrongdoing.

Reflecting on the controversy, the “This Love” rapper stated, “After living such a flashy life for more than half my life, situations would arise that were out of my control. I would try to handle issues within my boundary however I could, but even without finding answers, I felt like I was being continually pushed into a corner.

He revealed feeling trapped during that time, saying, “Ideally, a corner could lead to another unseen space, but at that time, it felt like I was trapped, with everything closing in on me. I felt I could not move forward, and behind me was just a wall. Fearing that being mentally exhausted might make me consider dangerous things, I forced myself to regain my center.”

G-Dragon continued, “I just need to exist as myself, and I didn’t want to go through those same struggles as before. In the past, I would try to overcome challenges, which was the problem. Now, I let them go. I don’t try to ‘win’ over anything anymore.”

During his appearance on “You Quiz,” G-Dragon hinted at upcoming full-group promotions for BIGBANG’s milestone 20th debut anniversary in 2026.
