ILLIT Officially Announces New Fandom Name

ILLIT

Nearly 6 months after their debut, ILLIT has finally announced the name of their fandom.

On September 2 at midnight, BELIFT LAB announced the fan club name on all social media channels.

ILLIT’s fans are now officially known as GLLIT, a name that was expected after the group’s agency trademarked it with KIRPIS in early August.

In the official announcement, BELIFT LAB stated, “After reviewing many suggestions submitted by fans and discussing them thoroughly with ILLIT members, we have decided on a fan club name.”

Sharing the meaning behind their new fandom name, the label shared, “Inspired by the word “glitter,” which means to sparkle and shine. It means in ILLIT’s eyes, the fans shine the brightest and they also make ILLIT sparkle.”

This new fandom name comes after the group’s agency, BELIFT LAB, previously announced the name LILLY in April, but faced backlash for its similarity to other fandom names, including BLACKPINK Lisa’s ‘Lilies’ and the name of NMIXX member Lily.

As the criticism grew, the agency promised to reconsider, no new name was announced for months until the recent announcement.

Since ILLIT is gearing up for their first comeback in the fall, it is only right for their dedicated fanbase to get a name.
