Is “Resident Playbook” Premiering in Summer 2025? tvN Responds

Resident Playbook

Rumors are swirling about the medical drama ‘Resident Playbook’, which may be heading to tvN in the Summer of 2025.

Following multiple delays, ‘Resident Playbook’ was notably absent from tvN’s 2025 drama lineup. It sparked concerns among fans about its potential release next year.

On December 13, a Korean media outlet OSEN exclusively reported that “Resident Playbook” is gearing up for a summer 2025 release on tvN, as scheduling delays are no longer viable due to OTT obligations and financial penalties.

tvN informed News1 about the drama’s potential 2025 release, stating, “Resident Playbook” summer 2025 scheduling is undecided” and “We will officially announce once it’s confirmed.”

“Resident Playbook” is a spin-off of the popular “Hospital Playlist” series, following the lives and friendships of professors and residents at a general hospital, starring Go Yoon Jung, Cynthia, Han Ye Ji, and more.

It was initially slated for May, but its premiere was delayed due to conflicts between the government and medical residents over enrollment policies.  Ongoing disputes pushed its premiere to the second half of 2025.

As public opinion turned increasingly negative, medical dramas faced significant opposition. Delays became inevitable due to concerns they might glorify doctors.

Fans were worried about whether the drama would ever be released after it was left out of tvN’s lineup for 2025. However, the network revealed that they have only revealed a partial lineup for next year. So, there is hope that “Resident Playbook” might get a release date next year.
