ITZY’s Yuna has reportedly signed her second acting project. According to a report by Newsen on November 24, the singer has been cast in the upcoming tvN drama My Favorite Employee.
She recently attended the first script reading and will take on the role of a top actress in the series. Fans are already paying attention to how she will channel her charm and confidence into the character. Due to her visuals, MIDZYs are already calling her “K-Pop’s Most Powerful Actor.”
My Favorite Employee is a romantic comedy centered on Nam Da Reum, who ends up working for a company run by former idol-turned-CEO Lee Chan. There, she unexpectedly becomes involved with her new boss, Kang Ha Gi. Kang Ha Gi may seem distant and serious at first, but behind his cool exterior is a kind, sincere man who built a successful startup from the ground up.
Nam Da Reum, meanwhile, is a longtime fan who suddenly finds herself employed at the company of the idol she once admired. The drama is led by Kang Hoon and Kim Hye Jun.
This new project comes on the heels of her confirmed appearance in another tvN drama, Undercover Miss Hong. The drama will star Park Shin Hye and Go Kyung Pyo, and premieres sometime next year.
In that series, Yuna plays the younger sister of Park Shin-hye’s character. The story is set during the late-90s IMF crisis, and follows a woman who secretly infiltrates a securities company to uncover wrongdoing. With two back-to-back drama roles, and many more offers reportedly coming in, Yuna is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about idol-actors of her generation.
Meanwhile, ITZY returned in October with their latest album TUNNEL VISION. Yuna is actively promoting with the group, joining members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, and Chaeryeong. Their title track has received strong support from fans, and ITZY recently celebrated a music show win on KBS 2TV’s Music Bank on November 21.
The group is also preparing for an ambitious schedule ahead. ITZY will kick off their third world tour, also titled TUNNEL VISION, next year in Seoul. The tour will begin with a three-day run at Jamsil Indoor Stadium from February 13 to 15, followed by stops in other countries.
