False alarm! IU and Byeon Woo Seok are still very much a part of the project.

More recently, rumors swirled that the kdrama heartthrob and the idol-turned-actress have departed from the upcoming romance drama “Wife of a 21st Century Prince” (working title).

Both agencies have categorically denied the report by TV Daily today, March 28. According to TV Daily, IU and Byon Woo Seok recently informed the production team of the MBC drama “Wife of a 21st Century Prince” (working title) that they would be withdrawing from the project. The media outlet cited scheduling conflicts and disagreement over the drama’s production schedule.

An official from VARO Entertainment, Byeon Woo Seok’s agency, refuted the rumors, saying, “The rumors are completely untrue, and he plans to proceed with the project as scheduled.”

IU’s agency EDAM Entertainment also denied reports of exit, “The reports are false. She is preparing well for the project.”

In ‘Wife of a 21st Century Prince’, IU plays Sung Hee Joo, a stunning, intelligent, and fiercely competitive heiress to a powerful conglomerate. Byeon Woo Seok is set to star alongside her as Prince Yian, a member of the royal family in a modern-day constitutional monarchy. The drama explores the unlikely romance between these two individuals from different worlds, each struggling with their own unique challenges and frustrations.

Last month, the production team tapped Park Joon Hwa, the director behind the hit series ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’, to helm the show. He is also known for directing “Because This is My First Life” and “Alchemy of Souls”. As per sources, the filming will begin in the first half of the year.

Reports suggest that it will broadcast on MBC by year-end and take over the time slot of “The Moon Flows Over The River”, scheduled to release in October.

Fans are overjoyed to learn that IU and Byeon Woo Seok are still part of “Wife of a 21st Century Prince” and eagerly looking forward to their chemistry on screen. IU’s popularity has skyrocketed after her portrayal of Ae Soon in Netflix’s “When Life Gives You Tangerines”, which concludes today. Notably, this will be Byeon Woo Seok’s first project after the widely popular “Lovely Runner” last year.
