This Christmas season, several K-pop idols and celebrities are spreading joy and kindness through generous donations.
IU, PLAVE, Jaemin, Lee Junho, and Lee Jong Suk have opened their hearts to give back to those in need.
IU
IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced on December 25 that the singer has made a significant donation of 500 million won to help underprivileged communities.
The donation was distributed through various organizations, including:
- Seoul ASAN Medical Center
- Seoul Children’s Welfare Association
- Together Laughing World
- Warm Companionship
These organizations will utilize the funds to support diverse underprivileged groups.
The allocation of funds will be as follows:
- Medical Support: Seoul Asan Medical Center will receive funding to assist elderly patients, those with cerebrovascular disease, and female cancer patients facing financial difficulties.
- Youth Empowerment: The Seoul Children’s Welfare Association will use the funds to enhance the self-reliance capabilities of youth transitioning to independence.
- Community Development: Together We Smile World will improve living conditions for vulnerable groups, including those in shantytowns and semi-basements.
- Disability Support: Warm Companionship will create customized spaces for individuals with disabilities and provide cutting-edge assistive devices.
- Homeless Support: The Open Welfare Foundation will receive funding to operate shelters for the homeless.
- Global Aid: Plan Korea will utilize the funds to provide clean drinking water, sanitation, and healthcare to children overseas.
- Arts and Culture: Children Walking Together will support cultural and artistic activities for children from vulnerable groups.
- Hearing Impairment Support: The Snail of Love project will receive funding to provide hearing aids for hearing-impaired children.
PLAVE
Virtual boy group PLAVE has made a generous donation of 100 million won to support pregnant women in crisis, as announced by the child welfare organization Green Umbrella on December 24.
The 100 million won donation was funded through a combination of sources, including proceeds from a Kakao emoticon project initiated by PLAVE fans, personal contributions from the group members, and a donation from their agency, VLAST.
The donation will provide much-needed support to pregnant women in crisis, enabling them to give birth healthily and alleviate the burden of childcare.
Jaemin from NCT DREAM
The Korean Committee for UNICEF announced on December 24 that Jaemin has donated 100 million won in the name of NCT’s official fan club. This generous contribution will help support children in need around the world.
Jaemin’s donation was made possible through the proceeds of his first solo photo exhibition, “Narcissism”, held in June. The funds will be utilized by UNICEF to support children worldwide, particularly those affected by war and natural disasters.
Lee Junho
Lee Junho from 2PM has made a generous donation of 100 million won to Samsung Seoul Hospital. The funds will be utilized to support the medical treatment and emotional well-being of underprivileged children and adolescents.
It will cover expenses such as surgeries, transplants, rehabilitation, and emotional support programs.
Lee Jong Suk
Lee Jong Suk has also made a heartwarming donation of 100 million won to support those in need. On December 23, his agency, Ace Factory, announced that the donation would be split between the Seoul ASAN Medical Center Children’s Hospital and a fund supporting vulnerable patients.
Seoul ASAN Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital will utilize Lee Jong Suk’s donation to provide treatment support for pediatric and adolescent patients struggling financially. It will also be used to offer integrated medical services that alleviate suffering and improve the quality of life for young patients.
The Vulnerable Patient Support Fund will cover medical expenses, treatment, and surgery costs for patients fighting illnesses in challenging environments.
