IU is using her powerful voice to make a difference in the lives of young dreamers. With her latest contribution to the ‘Dream High’ musical OST, IU is donating proceeds to support underprivileged youth pursuing arts education.
The 31-year-old singer revisits her 2011 hit ‘Someday’, the iconic OST from the drama ‘Dream High’. Written and composed by Park Jinyoung, the song beautifully captured her character Pil Sook’s journey toward stardom. Fourteen years later, ‘Someday’ remains a beloved classic, inspiring many to chase their dreams.
The ‘Dream High’ cast, including IU, Kim Soo Hyun, Suzy, Ok Taecyeon, and Jang Woo Young, became stars after the show.
While working on the musical, the team brainstormed various content ideas including OST release and upcoming concerts. They came up with the idea to donate a portion of proceeds from the “Dream High” OST album and IU instantly agreed.
This initiative aims to support children who have completed their protection and are forced to abandon their dreams before they even begin, specifically young individuals preparing for independence.
IU gave back in 2024 with donations at New Year’s, Children’s Day (100M won), and her 16th debut anniversary (225M won).
The “Love Wins All” singer had a busy year with the release of the album “The Winning” and world tour “H.E.R.” She wrapped the tour with two shows in Seoul on September 21 and 22, attended by many notable guests including Lee Jong Suk, BTS V, J-Hope, G-Dragon, and more.
Meanwhile, “Dream High” OST “Someday” will be released on November 7 at 6 PM, featuring IU and composer Ko Young Hwan.
