K-pop star Jaehyun, a member of the popular group NCT, said goodbye to fans today as he began his mandatory military service. His bandmates, including Taeyong, were there to show support. Fans are sad to see him go as he will be away for 1.5 years.

On November 4, Jaehyun enlisted in the military and began his 5-week recruit training service. Following his training, the “Smoke” singer will fulfill his mandatory military service as a member of the Army band.

While he started this new chapter, NCT members Johnny, Ten, Doyoung, Jungwoo, and Taeyong arrived at the training camp to send him off.

Taeyong, who began his mandatory military service as a Navy band member in April, also showed support for him. When the NCT 127 leader was enlisting, Jaehyun drove 4 hours to see him off.

It is an emotional moment for NCTzens as they say goodbye to the second member of the group and prepare for the enlistment of the remaining members.

On November 3, Jaehyun shared a post on his Instagram revealing his buzz cut ahead of the military. He also said an emotional goodbye to fans, with the caption, “Reminiscing about the memories we have shared, looking forward to the journey we will take.”

In South Korea, mandatory military service is required for all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 35 for a period of 18-21 months.

Jaehyun debuted as an NCT member in 2016 and made his debut as a soloist with the album “J” in August and released the single “Unconditional” in October.
