Jeon So Young and Kim Jae Won

Fresh off their Best New Actor/Actress wins at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards, Jeon So Young and Kim Jae Won are set to team up for a new youth romance film.

On October 2, Sports Chosun reported that they have been cast in Da Capo, the upcoming film directed by Lee Eon Hee (Love in the Big City, The Shopping List of a Killer). The film follows young men and women as they navigate love, relationships and growing up. Casting is currently being finalized, and  filming is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. Showbox will handle the film’s investment and distribution.

Showbox has also confirmed that discussions with Kim Jae Won and Jeon So Young are currently underway.

Both actors recently took home Best New Actor and Best New Actress awards at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards. Kim Jae Won won Best New Actor for his performance in Yumi’s Cells Season 3. Jeon So Young received Best New Actress for Netflix’s If Wishes Could Kill. The awards ceremony was held on July 31 at Paradise City in Incheon.

Jeon So Young and Kim Jae Won have worked together before

Interestingly, Da Capo will not be the first time Jeon So Young and Kim Jae Won have appeared in the same project.

The pair previously shared the screen in Yumi’s Cells Season 3. Kim played the lead Shin Soon Rok, the editor who eventually becomes Yumi’s romantic partner. Jeon So Young appeared as Jenny, one of Yumi’s juniors.

Their characters even had a brief romantic connection in the story. Yumi introduced Jenny to Soon Rok for a blind date after Soon Rok asked her to find him someone to meet. Jenny quickly became interested in him, but Soon Rok ultimately realized that his feelings were for Yumi.

About Jeon So Young and Kim Jae Won

Jeon So Young has built a packed lineup of upcoming projects. She is set to appear in the film The Table: Day and Night (as Na-kyung) and dramas including Retired Agent Management Team and Study Group Season 2.

Born in 2002, she made her debut in 2025 with Kick Kick Kick Kick and has since starred in My Youth, Crushology 101, Honour, Beyond the Bar, and The Legend of Kitchen Soldier.

Kim Jae Won, 25, has built a reputation for bold, unconventional role choices. Speaking to The Korea Herald, he noted that his roles in The Art of Sarah (as a man who sells his body to older women) and You and Everything Else (as a sexually conflicted older brother) were “very unconventional characters” that “could become major turning points” in his career.

He stressed that he does not want to be boxed into the romance genre, “Just because romance projects have been well-received doesn’t mean I think I should keep doing only romance. I want to challenge myself with genres I haven’t tried before.”

His upcoming schedule includes the films Final Interview and the drama I’m against my romance. He is also attached to the teenage romance film My Killer Crush opposite Chung Su Bin, which Barunson E&A will launch at the Asian Contents & Film Market in Busan.

Da Capo is currently preparing for production, with filming expected to begin in the second half of 2026.
