“Avoid ugly, petty men:” Hearts2Hearts Jiwoo’s Dating Advice Blows Up Online

Hearts2Hearts leader Jiwoo has landed herself in hot water after a bit of blunt advice and an accidental hand gesture. She is at the center of an online debate after a clip from the recent fansign went viral.

The incident took place on October 29, 2025, during a fansign in South Korea. While chatting with a female fan, Jiwoo shared what she likely thought was some friendly, sisterly advice. The 19-year-old singer advised the fan to avoid men with bad personalities, ugly appearances, and pettiness. As she counted off each trait on her fingers, she accidentally raised her middle finger, which added fuel to the fire.

Soon after the clip started circulating, discussions exploded on Korean online communities. On male-dominated forums like FM Korea, many users slammed Jiwoo for her “elitist” and “unprofessional” behavior. Some accused her of being judgmental, saying that her comments about “ugly” men were offensive and inappropriate for a public idol event.

On communities popular with female fans, such as theqoo and X (formerly Twitter), reactions were much more supportive. Many defended Jiwoo, saying she was simply offering honest, protective advice in a lighthearted way.

They also argued that the middle finger moment was clearly a coincidence, not a deliberate insult. Some even praised her confidence, saying, “She’s just being real,” and “Now ugly men can leave her alone.”

On the work front, Hearts2Hearts debuted earlier this year and is a strong contender for the Rookie of the Year trophy at year-end award ceremonies. The 8-member group recently made their comeback with 1st mini-album, FOCUS, on October 20.
