South Korean actress Jun Ji Hyun has put to rest allegations of tax irregularities, revealing that she has paid an adjustment amount of 20 million won to the authorities.

On February 10, IEUM HASHTAG shared their stance, stating, “There was a difference in opinion between the tax accountant and the National Tax Service, so additional taxes were paid.’

A representative from her agency told Dispatch, ‘Jun Ji Hyun underwent a tax audit in 2023 and received confirmation that there were no issues with all major items after going through the proper procedures.’

Regarding the penalty tax, they explained, ‘There was a difference in interpretation between the tax accountant and the National Tax Service regarding the method of handling costs.’

They added, ‘Some items were disputed, and as a result, an additional 20 million won was paid.’ They emphasized that there was no tax evasion or tax avoidance.

The representative described it as ‘a typical tax adjustment process that can occur’ and stated that it ‘has nothing to do with serious tax problems or illegal activities.’

Her agency has also denied allegations of tax irregularities related to real estate transactions. They clarified that there were no additional taxes owed on real estate, and any discrepancies were due to differences in opinion on other matters. The team emphasized that the real estate transfer income tax was paid in full and on time.

This statement comes after a media outlet reported that Jun Ji Hyun underwent an intensive tax investigation by the National Tax Service in September 2023. It fueled suspicions of potential tax evasion or irregularities related to real estate. However, her team has reassured that there were no issues with her real estate transactions.

On the work front, Jun Ji Hyun is set to star in the Disney+ series “Tempest” alongside Gang Dong Won, set to release this year.
