Jun Ji Hyun and Ji Chang Wook are now confirmed to join the cast of a new JTBC fantasy romance drama.
JTBC confirmed on November 12 that the two stars will lead the upcoming drama “Human X Gumiho” (working title), directed by Kim Jung Sik and written by Im Mea Ri.
The drama is described as a fantasy rom-com with a mysterious twist. It is about a gumiho (a mythical nine-tailed fox) and a human who become entangled by fate.
Jun Ji Hyun will take on the role of Goo Ja Hong, a 2,000-year-old gumiho who can easily charm and manipulate people. Goo is beautiful and alluring and has lived through centuries creating rumors and scandals wherever she goes. She has effortlessly manipulated humans with her supernatural powers until Choi Seok (played by Ji Chang Wook) comes along. He is the only human she can’t seem to control.
Ji Chang Wook plays Choi Seok, a skilled shaman and the director of the Oseong Museum. On the surface, he seems playful and easygoing, but he actually carries a heavy burden. He has a special ability that allows him to see and sense things others can’t. His peaceful life turns upside down when Goo Ja Hong boldly enters his territory.
Jun has previously starred in two of Korea’s iconic fantasy romance dramas, My Love From The Star and The Legend of the Blue Sea. She recently turned down The Americans drama remake with Lee Byung Hun due to a scheduling conflict. Ji Chang Wook has shown his range in melodramas, thrillers, and romances. Healer, The Worst of Evil, Suspicious Partner, Gangnam B-Side, to name a few.
Director Kim Jung Sik, who previously worked on Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon, joins hands with writer Im Mea Ri, known for Beauty Inside and Doom at Your Service.
“Human X Gumiho” will air on JTBC and will also be available globally on Amazon Prime.
