Jung Chaeyeon Considers Starring in Modern Remake of 1994 Drama “M”

Jung Chaeyeon

Jung Chaeyeon may be taking on a major new project.

BH Entertainment announced on December 4 that Jung has been approached to star in “M: Reboot” and is currently looking over the offer.

“M: Reboot” is a modern reinterpretation of the 1994 MBC special miniseries “M.” The original drama received praise for tackling the sensitive topic of abortion and recorded peak ratings of over 50 percent. Its lead actress, Shim Eun Ha, became an overnight star thanks to her performance and the show’s unforgettable horror elements, including the famous green-eyed scenes.

The new version will bring the story into today’s world with updated themes and a fresh style. Many are curious to see if Jung Chaeyeon will take on the role, since the drama carries such a strong legacy.

Jung Chaeyeon first debuted as a member of the girl group DIA in 2015. She became widely known after finishing seventh on “Produce 101” and debuting again with I.O.I in 2016. In addition, she has appeared in dramas like “The Golden Spoon,” the Netflix series “My First First Love,” and “Family By Choice.”

This year, she gained strong reviews for her role in “Beyond the Bar,” where she played Kang Hyo Min, a young lawyer navigating her early career.

She has also spoken about the possibility of an I.O.I 10th anniversary reunion in 2026. The members are trying to adjust their schedules, although not everyone may be able to join due to acting commitments. Kang Mina will not be joining the 10th debut anniversary celebrations due to prior commitments.

Over the years, Jung Chaeyeon has gone from idol to established actress. She began acting with a cameo in “Drinking Solo” in 2016, and took on her first lead role in “To. Jenny” in 2018. She gained wider attention through roles in “The King’s Affection” and “The Golden Spoon.”

Fans are now watching closely to see whether she will choose “M: Reboot” as her next challenge.
