“When is Jungkook coming back from the military?” is probably one of the most searched queries on the internet right now. Well, the golden maknae, along with fellow member Jimin, will return in exactly a week. For ARMYs, even just seven days feels like forever; the countdown to BTS’ return is agonizingly slow.
Now that BTS is at the cusp of a full-group reunion, ARMYs worldwide are celebrating the return of these K-pop superstars. While no immediate group activities are planned, BTS members will meet fans with solo projects.
Here’s everything you need to know about Jungkook discharge date, activities during enlistment, and upcoming plans.
Jungkook Military Discharge Date
Jungkook, alongside fellow member Jimin, enlisted for military service on December 12, 2023. To synchronize their schedules and make their reunion sooner, four BTS members enlisted in the military together in December 2023.
Jungkook will complete his 18-month mandatory military service on June 11, 2025. Fans have begun the countdown to his return and are already speculating about his post-discharge plans. Jimin will also be discharged on the same day, whereas RM and V will complete active-duty service a day prior, on June 10, 2025.
Jungkook Comeback 2025
It is about time Jungkook releases another chart-topping album. The 27-year-old singer released his solo debut album, GOLDEN, a month before his military enlistment. Released on November 3, 2023, the album sold over 2 million copies within five hours of release, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The lead single, Standing Next To You, stayed on the chart for 18 consecutive weeks.
The “Seven” singer is likely to release an album in the coming months, as BTS will begin group activities by the end of this year. The upcoming album is going to break even more records since fans have been waiting for at least 2 years.
Jungkook was recently seen leaving Gimpo International Airport, leading many to speculate that it might have been a work trip or that he could be preparing a surprise for ARMY.
Tour
Since last year, fans have been trending the hashtag “Jungkook Solo Tour” on X to urge HYBE to organize a solo tour for him. It appears that the agency is working on organizing a tour, which will reportedly run from October 2025 to January 2026. However, this tour schedule has been confirmed by BIGHIT MUSIC, so fans would have to wait for an official announcement.
BTS Reunion
In 2023, both BTS members and their agency hinted at a 2025 comeback. However, since late 2024, BIGHIT MUSIC has suggested the comeback might be moved to 2026, though a specific date remains uncertain as they continue to discuss activity plans with the members.
In April, HYBE CEO Lee Jae Sang also hinted at their 2026 comeback in an annual shareholders meeting.
The BTS members are set to complete their military service by the end of the first half of this year, and they will need time for preparation and production before resuming activities.
While BTS comeback is put on hold, the second half of the year will be packed with members’ solo projects. Mark your calendar for June 11 when Jungkook returns to civilian life.
