Kim Go Eun and Kang Dong Won will reportedly lead the upcoming drama Soul (working title), written by Park Ji Eun and directed by Kim Won Seok.

While Kang’s casting was previously reported, Xport News revealed on July 19 that Kim will play the female lead in the series.

Writer Park Ji Eun is known for major hits like Crash Landing on You, My Love from the Star, and Queen of Tears. Kim Won Seok has previously directed acclaimed dramas such as When Life Gives You Tangerines, Arthdal Chronicles, and My Mister.

Soul is reported to combine elements of historical drama and romance. Though the plot has not been revealed, the collaboration between a top-tier writer, a well-respected director, and two A-list actors has already raised expectations.

Kang Dong Won marks his return to television after focusing largely on films in recent years. He recently starred in many critically acclaimed films such as Uprising, Dark Nuns, and The Plot. He will meet viewers later this year in Disney+’s thriller, Tempest, alongside Jun Ji Hyun.

Kim Go Eun continues to stay busy with multiple projects. She is set to return to the small screen in the second half of 2025 through the Netflix drama You and Everything Else and The Price of Confession

She is returning to dramas after Little Women, which aired on tvN in 2022. For the past few years, Go Eun has focused on delivering blockbuster movies like Exhuma and Love in the Big City.

The 34-year-old actress has also confirmed her appearance in Yumi’s Cells Season 3, which will stream on TVING next year. Soul will be her fourth upcoming project, and fans can not wait to see more of her diverse acting skills.

Further details, including filming schedule and release date, have not yet been disclosed. The drama is in early pre-production, and more casting announcements are expected soon.
