Kim Jae Won and Kim Go Eun in a teaser for 'Yumi's Cells 3'

She is finally back. After almost four years, Kim Go Eun is returning as Yumi opposite Kim Jae Won. And honestly, it’s about time.

The first two seasons of Yumi’s Cells stole our hearts. They mixed real-life acting with adorable 3D animated brain cells. It was fresh and funny, and now, the story continues. Kim Go Eun once again steps into the shoes of Kim Yumi, the sweet office worker we have all grown to love.

Yumi’s Cells Season 3 Release Date

Mark your calendars as Yumi’s Cells Season 3 premieres on April 13, 2026. On TVING, two episodes drop every Monday at 6 p.m. KST, starting April 13. For those who prefer traditional TV, tvN will air it on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:50 p.m. KST, one episode at a time. This will be the final season.

Plot Overview

A lot has changed for Yumi. She is no longer an ordinary office worker but a successful star author. She achieved her dream and is living a calm, peaceful life. But there is one problem, that peace has made everything a bit dull.

Her once-bustling “cell village” has gone quiet. The Love Cell is asleep. Yumi herself says, “Nothing really hits me anymore”.

Then, in walks someone unexpected. His name is Soon Rok (played by Kim Jae Won), a new PD at her publishing house. He is handsome but brutally honest. He immediately pushes Yumi’s buttons. They argue over silly things, like whether her dog is smart. It’s infuriating but somehow, also exciting.

Soon, Yumi’s heart starts racing again. Her Love Cell slowly reopens its eyes. The show follows her as she laughs, cries, and falls in love all over again.

Kim Go Eun described Yumi’s mindset at the start of the season. She said, “She doesn’t know what to do besides work and even has new worries about how to rest.” But as the cells awaken, “you’ll see her regain vitality“.

Cast and Characters

The main cast is a nice mix of old friends and new faces.

The supporting cast also includes Mi Ram, Park Se In, and Sung Ji Ru, among others.

Yumi’s Cells 3 Trailer

The main trailer dropped on March 25 and shows Yumi and Soon Rok’s first meeting as author and PD. It starts off formal. But then he asks, “Don’t Maltese dogs eat poop too?” And Yumi quickly covers her dog’s ears.

Additional footage shows Soon Rok pushing her “anger button” constantly. He puts in earphones on the bus instead of talking to her. Yumi is so annoyed, her “fishing cell” catches a rare “ticked bream”—a fish that only appears when she is really angry.

But beneath all that, there’s a spark. When Soon Rok sincerely tells her, “You were cool. You are cool,” Yumi can’t help but smile. It’s a classic hate-to-love setup, and the chemistry looks amazing.
