Kim Soo Hyun Speaks Out on Controversy Surrounding Intimate Scenes with Sulli in Movie “Real”

Sulli and Kim Soo Hyun

Kim Soo Hyun can’t seem to catch a break as allegations against him keep piling up. It all started with a YouTube channel accusing him of dating the late Kim Sae Ron while she was still a minor. Then, he faced accusations of framing Seo Ye Ji as a bully, which put her career on hold.

To make matters worse, the family of the late Sulli has demanded answers regarding claims that he forced her to do nude scenes for the movie “Real.”

The late K-pop idol’s family released a statement on March 28, calling for Kim Soo Hyun to address allegations surrounding the filming of “Real”. Specifically, they wanted Kim to comment on:

Kim Soo Hyun held a press conference on Monday, March 31, and addressed allegations of dating Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. Although he was expected to address allegations surrounding the bed scene with Sulli during the press briefing, the 37-year-old actor remained tight-lipped about it.

On April 2, his agency Gold Medalist addressed the allegations made by his family in an official statement. The statement reads

Firstly, we pay our respects to the late Choi Jin Ri.

The female lead role of Song Yu Hwa, played by the late Choi Jin Ri, had a bed scene specified in the script from the beginning. Therefore, when casting for the role, we explicitly stated that the actress must be willing to perform exposure scenes.

Just as any job postings list necessary qualifications, the role of Song Yoo Hwa required exposure scenes, so this was something that needed to be disclosed beforehand. We believe that discussing exposure scenes only after casting could potentially burden and coerce the actress.

The script provided to the late Choi Jin Ri and her agency at the time included bed scenes. Additionally, character description materials for Song Yoo Hwa outlined the level of exposure required. When signing the contract, a separate clause specifying the extent of exposure was also included.

The late Choi Jin Ri and her agency carefully reviewed all details before agreeing to take on the role.

Despite this, we understand that bed scenes require great courage from actors, and therefore, the production team carried out thorough preparations in advance. The late Choi Jin Ri was

aware of the bed scene before filming it.

Regarding the concerns raised by her older brother:

About the bed scene filming: The late Choi Jin Ri was fully informed of the scene beforehand and participated in filming with prior understanding.

About the stand-in actor: There was no stand-in actor performing the scene in her place. Instead, there was a ‘standing actor’ who didn’t act but was used during the preparation stage to help block movements for the scene.

To clarify these points, we have attached written statements from ‘Real’’s assistant director, Kim Joong Ok, and script supervisor, Lee Joon Hyun, both of whom were present during all scenes, including the bed scene. Additionally, script development, storyboarding, and filming are the responsibility of the production team.

Actor Kim Soo Hyun, who participated as a cast member, was not involved in these aspects.

As evidenced by testimonies of key staff members, both the late Choi Jin Ri and her agency were fully aware of the role of Song Yoo Hwa before accepting it. Coercing an actor into performing bed scenes or nude scenes against their will is unacceptable in any production.

Lastly, we have never contacted the late Choi Jin Ri’s mother nor do we have her contact information.

We understand that people may have been curious about the truth of things they heard at the funeral. However, bringing up events from over six years ago and posting them on social media as if they were personally experienced facts, even when they’re not true, is difficult to accept.

We kindly request that you refrain from spreading unsubstantiated rumors that may hurt those who worked on the movie “Real” with dedication and passion.

Furthermore, there has been an increasing spread of unverified claims taking advantage of Kim Soo Hyun’s current situation. We sincerely ask that all speculative remarks come to an end.

Thank you.
