Kim Soo Hyun is criticized for his ‘insensitive’ and ‘heartless’ Bubble messages just a few days after the untimely demise of Kim Sae Ron.
The 37-year-old actor is currently facing serious allegations after the “Bloodhounds” actress took her own life on his birthday, February 16. He is accused of dating her when she was 15 years old, during her middle school years.
As per the claims made by Garosero Institute, he dated her for six years, from 2015 to 2021.
Due to the intense backlash from the media, Kim Soo Hyun confessed to a romantic relationship with Kim Sae Ron after denying it three times. However, he refuted allegations of dating the late actress when she was a minor. Instead, his agency claimed they dated when she was a legal adult, from 2019 to 2020.
More recently, his Bubble messages from February 23, a week after Kim Sae Ron, go viral. On February 23, Kim Soo Hyun greeted his fans with a message: “Wow, hello? Kim February Sunday special, it’s still my birthday vibe.” He also responded to a fan’s message mentioning how happy they were to see him on G-Dragon’s “Good Day” show for episode 3, which aired before the current controversy.
“The Queen of Tears” actor replied, “I’m busy too, but he (G-Dragon) is even busier.”
Netizens are slamming him for his insensitive response to Kim Sae Ron’s death. Many Kdrama actors visited the funeral home to say their final goodbyes and shared heartfelt posts and condolences on social media.
On the other hand, Kim Soo Hyun remained silent and did not publicly mourn or offer condolences for Kim Sae Ron, an actress he had known for years and mentored during her time at Gold Medalist.
Due to their years-long connection, fans expect him to show more compassion and empathy. However, his message came across as tone-deaf and “heartless”, leaving fans shocked and disappointed. The fact that he attended G-Dragon’s comeback listening party just two days later (February 25) after sending Bubble messages has enraged the public even more.
After the recent dating scandal, Kim Soo Hyun is facing boycotts, and his social media following is rapidly declining. Many brands, including Prada, have cut ties with him due to the growing public backlash.
Now, all eyes are on Disney+ if it will proceed with the premiere of “Knock Off”, scheduled to release in the first half of 2025.
