The lead cast lineup for Dear X is confirmed and it looks promising!
On August 8, TVING confirmed that Kim Yoo Jung, Kim Young Dae, Kim Do Hoon, and Lee Yeol Eum have been confirmed to star in the upcoming drama Dear X (working title).
Dear X is a thrilling drama about a woman’s dark past and the man who tries to save her. Baek Ah-jin (Kim Yoo Jung) is a star who rose to fame, but her life begins to unravel. Yoon Jun Seo (Kim Young Dae) falls deeply in love with her and will stop at nothing to protect her.
Kim Yoo Jung plays Baek Ah-jin, a famous Korean actress who hides her mean personality behind a pretty face. Baek Ah-jin had a tough childhood and learned to wear a ‘mask’ to protect herself. She’s great at understanding and controlling others’ feelings, but when she ignores her own feelings and becomes a star, her life starts to collapse.”
Kim Young Dae plays Yoon Jun-seo, a man who thinks love can save anyone. He’s been by Baek Ah-jin’s side forever and loves her deeply. He would do anything for her, but his love ultimately leads him to destroy everything he’s worked to protect.
Kim Do Hoon plays Kim Jae-oh, Baek Ah-jin’s loyal and blind assistant. Unlike Yoon Jun-seo, Kim Jae-oh protects Baek Ah-jin in his own way. He has a traumatic past, having suffered abuse from his cult-member father. He finds solace in Baek Ah-jin, who shares similar pain and dedicates himself to being her trusted companion.
Lee Yeol Eum plays Lena, a woman stuck in unrequited love. Lena is a former idol-turned actress who became famous for her looks and luck. Despite criticism of her acting skills, she remains confident and optimistic. However, her world is disrupted by Baek Ah-jin and Yoon Jun-seo. As Lena falls deeper in love with Yoon Jun-seo, she realizes she’s chasing something out of her reach.
The drama will be directed by Lee Eung Bok, known for directing many iconic Kdramas including Descendants of the Sun, Goblin, Mr. Sunshine, and Sweet Home. In addition, The Missing director Park So Hyun will be co-directing Dear X.
It is penned by Choi Ja Won and adapted from a webtoon of the same name written by Ban Ji Woon.
Dear X is scheduled to broadcast on TVING in June 2025.
