‘Law and The City’ Release Date and Where to Watch
Law and The City premieres on July 5, 2025, and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 21:20 KST on tvN in South Korea. International viewers can stream the drama on Disney+, with additional availability on platforms like Viki and TVING depending on your region. The series will run for 12 episodes, each about 70 to 75 minutes long, and concludes on August 10, 2025.
Plot
At its core, Law and The City follows five lawyers navigating high-stakes cases and personal growth. The so-called “Associate Lawyers Avengers,” a tight-knit group of five lawyers who handle demanding cases while forming genuine connections during shared lunch breaks. It is set in Seoul’s bustling Seocho District, home to over a third of the city’s lawyers.
Cast and Characters
Lee Jong Suk as Ahn Joo Hyung
Lee Jong Suk stars as Ahn Joo Hyung, a razor-sharp associate at Kyungmin Law Firm. He is brilliant, logical, and respected but emotionally guarded and more comfortable with case files than people. After nine years at one of Seoul’s top firms, he could easily open his own practice. Instead, he is stuck in a routine that feels safe but empty. Ahn values logic over justice and is more interested in winning cases.
Law and The City is Lee Jong Suk’s first lead K-drama since Big Mouth ended in 2022. After that hit, Jong-suk focused on personal projects and completed his mandatory military service, staying out of the spotlight for over three years.
Jong-suk has a strong reputation for picking roles that mix smart plots with emotionally layered characters, from While You Were Sleeping to Pinocchio and W: Two Worlds Apart.
Mun Ka Young Plays Kang Hee Ji
Kang Hee Ji, played by Mun Ka Young, is a second-year lawyer at Johwa Law Firm who follows a simple but powerful belief: Changing one person’s life can change the world.
Hee Ji believes that the law’s real purpose is to change individual lives for the better, not just win battles for big companies. Mun Ka Young will make a quick return to TV after starring in a webtoon-based drama, My Dearest Nemesis earlier this year.
Her notable acting credits include True Beauty, Link: Eat, Love, Kill, Tempted, Interest of Love, and more.
Supporting Cast
Alongside Lee Jong Suk and Mun Ka Young, the drama features a solid ensemble that builds a believable “office family” dynamic:
- Kang You Seok plays Jo Chang Won, a third-year associate at Kyungmin who is talkative and well-connected but serious when work demands it.
- Ryu Hye Young plays Bae Moon Jung, a skilled lawyer at Johwa who’s fiercely protective of Hee Ji and always ready to call out injustice.
- Im Sung Jae appears as Kang Sang Ki, another Kyungmin lawyer who’s pragmatic, blunt, and more concerned about lunch than office politics.
- Guest roles include Yoon Kyun Sang in a cameo as a hardline senior prosecutor who challenges both firms in a critical case midway through the series.
Law and the City Trailer
tvN dropped two official trailers for Law and the City in May 2025, titled “Go to Work” and “Leave Work.”
The first teaser shows the daily grind inside Seoul’s busy legal district: crowded elevators, piles of files, urgent phone calls, and the unspoken competition between associates.
The second teaser shows exhausted lawyers eating ramen in the break room and having silent rooftop conversations. Mun Ka Young’s character is seen saying, Life’s not so hard when you’re eating with your friends.
Production Team
Law and The City is penned by Lee Seung Hyun, a former lawyer who brings real-world legal insight to the scenes. It’s directed by Park Seung Woo, reuniting with Lee Jong Suk after W: Two Worlds Apart. Production is handled by Studio Dragon, the powerhouse behind hits like Crash Landing on You and Vincenzo.
