Lee Joo Young In Talks to Lead Gripping 8-Episode Revenge Drama

Lee Joo Young is set to captivate audiences once again with her latest project, a gripping 8-episode crime thriller revenge drama.

As reported by Joy News on December 6, the 32-year-old actress will join Wavve’s original drama ‘Conviction’ (tentative title) in a lead role. 

Broadcasting officials stated that Lee Joo Young is set to start filming the 8-part OTT drama “Conviction” later this month. The casting and script reading sessions will be finalized soon.

“Conviction” is a heart-pumping revenge thriller that follows a young actress’ quest for revenge. After his parents fall victim to a ruthless phishing scam, he uses advanced deepfake technology to go undercover and take down the massive organization behind it. 

Lee Joo Young plays Ha So Min, a determined but struggling actress, in the Wavve Original drama. Ha seeks revenge after she loses her parents to a phishing scam. Fans are excited to see Lee Joo Young’s new role, as she has impressed audiences in many previous works.

This OTT-exclusive series is written by Kim Dan Bi and directed by Hyung In Hyeok. Production will be handled by Tiger Studio with support from the Korea Creative Content Agency.

The drama “Conviction” is gaining attention for addressing two pressing social concerns such as voice phishing and deepfakes. It also adds a layer of authenticity by featuring real-life voice phishing cases. It is expected to cover various types of scams like fake family emergencies, credit card scams, and phishing messages.

The upcoming crime thriller drama “Conviction” is set to premiere on Wavve in May 2025.
